  • Harbinson hits out at Sinn Fein Youth vandalism

Traditional Unionist Voice vice-chairman Keith Harbinson has questioned the commitment of Sinn Fein/IRA to the rule of law after a posting on the website of the party’s youth wing called for people to paint post-boxes green.

    Commenting Mr Harbinson said:
“While the DUP’s West Tyrone MLA Tom Buchanan rightly condemned Barry McElduff for commending this vandalism last week he stopped short from drawing the most obvious inference – a party which encourages the breaking of the law is unfit for government.

“It has been drawn to my attention that not only is McElduff praising these vandals but on the official website of Ogra Sinn Fein it is revealed that this activity was “initiated” by the youth wing of Sinn Fein/IRA and a Youtube video has been posted glorifying those involved

“Do the Police plan to take action against these vandals? Will Sinn Fein assist the police in their investigation, and hand over the perpetrators or will we once again see Criminal activity by Republicans shielded by the so-called Republican code?”

“Perhaps of the greatest concern however is how Sinn Fein/IRA can have any kind of role within the devolution of policing and justice when very public displays of law breaking are encouraged and lauded.”
