Default Donations

I have added a donation bar to the page again, I just wanted to make it clear that the site is completely free to use and no pressure is put on anyone to make any donations, although any are appreciated, If you want to know where donations go, then here is a brief summery with some of the things we do and a rough estimate of our donation totals to date.

Before I make a list I'm not posting this for kudos, but because I was asked about this and have been on a number of occasions, also I have no idea where people think the money we raise goes, but to set the record straight every penny is accounted for and it all goes back into the PUL community, no staff is paid of the site, this includes myself, contrary to the belief of some. The only people that are paid on this site, are DJ's who do live events, half the fee goes to PULSE and half to the DJ. DJ's will give up there free time to do these events and this was put in place before we ever did an event, on occasions we have donated the PULSE fee back, and sometimes donated the entire fee, including the DJ's, although that is upto the DJ doing the event.

PULSE was created as Calton Radio on March the 17th 2004, on March the 17th 2009 we will be 5 years old, the website did exist in other guises before but they are not important as our work did not begin until the site evolved to Calton Radio, and then latterly PULSE as it is now known.

At this stage it is safe to say that PULSE has donated over £10,000 since our birth, this has been to a wide range of Loyalist charities, each year we set a target of £1500 to donate however depending on how successful our year has been we can go way over this, we have also involved ourselves in a few charity nights and events putting our name to the night in order to make much needed funds for whatever charity is involved, these have not been added to the total above, one such event and our first was done in Newmains along with the Newmains Loyalists and Lynn_CVFB who was raising money for the hopsital her niece was treated in, which was a well publicised event on our forums, these type of events make us very proud of our community especially when vast amounts can be raised in aid of charitable groups. We have donated to many Bands, Lodges, Clubs and organisations who hold our beliefs in an ever changing society which shuns our community. To put it simply, we will not turn our nose up at anyone so long as they are doing good for our community.

I would hope this puts to bed people fishing regarding our funds, PULSE is not made of money, there is not a well of it here with thousands running through our hands, but we support when we can and where we can. All staff on site are volunteers and no one is paid for running this site, that includes myself.

If you have questions related to donations then feel free to send me a private message.

I have updated the first thread with a proper donations total, and a bit more transparency on what we are doing with money although no one has been named in terms of donations apart from one well publicised event.

Hello Bluefin221,

I've been listening to the radio for a while now and that's me finally coming across to registering to the website. So I thought in return that I would donate to the website to keep it running.

I'll be donating sometime next week when I get paid from work and I hope this money helps the website out.

Thanks for your time,
Bell.

I have noticed that the donations are not coming in as readily as they were before Christmas. I imagine the economic climate is to blame and I know I haven't donated as much as I'd like to, but will continue to donate as often as I can and would urge others to consider sending as little as a fiver a month, after all it is less than the price of two pints.

If the site closed due to financial reasons, there are many people who would be at a loss. Not only does the site promote our music ,but helps to keep us up to date with relevant news items instead of the nonsense we read in daily newspapers, surely it's got to be worth something to everyone.

I'm considering other avenues to try to generate the funds that are missing.

I am one who donated a little but I have had quite a few problems since Christmas. I will send a couple of quid asap & should be able to make more donations from April. I don't know how many are active on the site but I am sure that there are a 100 who could donate 50p per week on a regular basis. How about direct debits?
